Formula SAE
Every year as a new car is designed and built, Whitehorse Industries get enquiries from across Australia and internationally for the supply of rim section for their vehicles.
The idea behind Formula SAE is that a car is designed and built using a set of rules and guidelines which points are awarded against. Design, autocross, acceleration, skidpan and fuel economy are some of the categories judged.
13" diameter wheels used to be a common size but recently a move to 10" diameter wheels has seen our old tooling come out of storage to once again be used for this category of racing.
When students contact Whitehorse Industries for rim halves we are always interested in what type of new designs and features are being incorporated into the current car being built. This has a benefit of letting students know that we are more than capable of being able to supply what they need and also they can go away and design certain aspects of the car to work with our wheel tooling.
